Making fina is a pain in the ***

I finally made fina and that was a pain in the ***. It took me, no lie, over 1.5 hours to push the stuff through the filter. And I had to put some good pressure on it too. That was irritating as hell.

It came out a little darker then what I have seen on the net but looks good. Did my 1st one last night and no pain at all today. I thought this stuff was supposed to hurt??

Ok .. now I feel better!

It took me like 5 minutes to pass it all through the watman, but I had it pretty warm.

No ... It did not hurt at all. My leg is fine. And I did have the oil very warm. It was sitting in a pan of hot water the whole time. I just mean that filtering it took me a while. It was just irritating cause I read that 1lb or peressure should cause a costant stream of drops. But I would get like 3-5 drops then have to stop for a few seconds . Then start again. Know how long that takes when doing 50ml .... OMG!

My friends went through a lot quicker then mine. We even switched filters later and I got the same problem and he did not. Weird huh?

if you tighten the filter too much it can cause slower filtration

Fast can possibly mean that the membrane ruptured and now the mix isn't really be filtered at all.
So what you had was a good thing.

Well actually at the end I sucked in on the gun and then pressed down again and it started coming out pretty fast. Like a decent stream.I figured that whatever was clogging it was pulled off and then reseated in another spot and not blocking the flow again. The mixture got a little darker at that point. Is that bad thing? Should I get a new kit and refilter it?

I've read that once you pull back on the sryinge with the filter attached the filter is ruined. Did you have the other needle in the vial to relieve pressure? Just made some for a friend last night. Here is a cut & paste from "Making Fina, No waste" written by superchicken

now we sterile filter the oil into the sealed sterile vial. this may take a while, dont press to hard, some of these people who say they have cloudy tren or shit floating in it were pressing too hard and blew the filter. pressing extremely hard doesnt really save but a few minutes anyway so dont do it. too much pressure can also distort the walls inside the filter and cause some oil to bypass the filter, even if you dont outright blow the thing. youll know if you blew it youll have crap floating around, or if its cloudy. Also NEVER draw oil back through the filter in the wrong direction. This will ruin the filter instantly.

.2 filters will filter out most of the bacteria too.. not just the methylcelulose...

and no it doesn't hurt.. some say it does, mine didn't hurt at all...
