although ive done my fair share of diifernt types of drugs and they dont bother me I have an open mind. But IMO ASS do not change you thought and do not impear your judgement. But to fight the argument drugs are drugs wether bad or good they have differnt effects on differnt people.

I believe I once heard someone say that those who use gear,
are at very high risk for addiction to 2 specific catagories..
Alchohol and amphetamines(meth or coke)..I can site a few examples with people I have known who fit this

I hate to wade into this, but would like to point out a few things. I think the problem here may have to do with the definition of recreational drug use. I think that using drugs for non-medical indications is recreational. Thus, if I use Xanax to treat anxiety, its medical, if I use it to get high its recreational. If I take Adderal for attention deficit disorder, or narcolepsy its medical; if its for staying up and partying its recreational. Now some drugs have no medical indication, ecstacy, LSD, cocaine come to mind. Therefore I'd call any use of these recreational. Some users will say "No, I use LSD to expand my consciousness," or "I use ecstacy to get closer to my girlfriend" but even though they have what they consider a good reason (and it may be) I'd define that as recreational.

Let's turn to AAS. Some do have medical indications, but bodybuilding is not one. Most of the people here don't "need" AAS, and in fact most are bigger than average before they use them. People use them because they like the way they feel and look while on them. That's OK, I do the same. But without a health need, I consider this recreational.

Do AAS have potential side effects-of course. Everyone on the boards knows about the risk of hepatic problems with the 17's yet they Take Them Anyhow! Sure we check labs to try to decrease the risks but we are all putting ourselves at risk because we like the way we look and feel. This sounds recreational. Saying we are making ourselves healthy by taking drugs that can hurt our liver and kidneys, cause blood pressure and lipid problems, to say nothing of messing with our sexual function makes no sense to me. Further our definition of health is big muscles, and strength, far from a universal definition.

Finally, The issue of addiction. Do a search and see how many of us "can't wait" the full amount of time before our next cycle because we've got our juice and can't resist? How many of us obsess about losing our gains, or feel depressed etc. when we are off. How many would be always on, if they could?

So, I personally like AAS but I think we may be kidding ourselves if we see ourselves as anything but recreational drug users with an unusual drug of choice. Please don't see this as an attack on ANYBODY! Just wanted to say my piece.

ive known people to be just as addicted to AS as others ive known who were addicted to coke or heroin or whatever. if someone has an addictive personality it doesnt matter what the substance is IMO.

With all due respect, they are all being used for recreational purposes.

AAS users do it to improve the way they look. what can a coke user say about his drug use? its fun, it makes me feel better. AAS seems much more constructive and beneifcal than rec. drugs. IMO

guess everyone has their own way to fuk with their health... for some it's coke, others the gear.... they both have good and bad sides to them... people have died from both, and enjoyed both... i think there is only a thin line separating those two...

I can tell you one thing, ,AAS has led to many problems both with my physical and metal health, and relationship problems! My rec use of AAS has led to a medical necessity of the use of testosterone now. Several other problems have risen due to there use that I do not care to discuss as well!

I guess my point is, if you are going to use AAS recreationally, due it wisely and don't abuse them!
