  • Any anemic bodybuilders?

I hate my genetics, I can put on decent size, but unfortunately I have genetic anemic condition known as thallesimia. My body can only produce a limited amount of red blood cells which I know has hurt my gains over the years. As of now, there is no cure for the disease,. The only that worked for me was EQ but I don't want to stay on year round. B-vitamins are not much use to me either. I have blood work coming back from the doctor next week, I think I will ask him about EPO, does anyone have any experience with this or any other suggestions for raising red blood cell count. Thanks for any help.

would that shut me down? What would you consider moderate doses btw? If I could get a doc to prescribe them it would be great. I am afraid of the strain it would put on the liver and kidneys though. thanks.

there's drugs that arent as harsh of coarse......but if you want to gain size and recover some blood cells, anadrol50 would be best. However there is, like you said, effects on the liver. Ask your doc about Lipitor......i think thats the one. I'll double check that for ya.

Instead of anadrol you could just stick to test. Yeah anadrol is more effective but at what risk. Test is more "natural" nad still will give you good gains in size and strength as well as having a positive effect on red blood cell count.

I would prefer to do this under a doctor's supervision, how dangerous can EPO be?

yes definately, you can kill yourself w/ epo. id be espescially cautious since your body is not used to having a lot of red blood cells, there may be somthing that comes along w/ your disease that may make you more sensitive to probelms when raising blood cell count. def be carefull

I think he asked about EPO because he doesn't want to be on cycle year round, so quit giving him steroid advice!

As far as your concerns with EPO goes, it should be very safe if administered under the care of a physician. He will know if EPO can be used to treat your disease, and at what dose it should be used. When a doctor prescribes something like EPO, he prescribes it to get your red blood cell count to "normal." When athletes use EPO, it's used to get red blood cell count above "normal," which can be dangerous.

Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate. I'm going to meet with teh doc to go over my options on tuesday. One more quick question, if I were to stay on test all year round, would that destroy any chance of having children later on in life. I'm in my early to mid 20's, and would like to have children someday. Would this be the equivalent of going on HRT? I've had this disease since birth, but it has never really effected me so graetly until the past few months. I have no energy, my workouts have been terrible. What do you think the smallest effective dose of eq would be needed to stimulate red blood cell formation?

Exactly, the only reason I would use the EPO is for quality of life issues, nothing to do with bodybuilding.
