i agreed with DT on EF, and ill do it again here.
there were a lot of bros on that thread that had learned this lesson the hard way.
i am no exeception to that
I totally disagree! If you want to make the best use of your gear, you eat as much as possible! You do what arnold, franco, ferigno, etc. all did. What Ronnie Coleman, Lee Priest, King Kamali do. Those are the guys that keep gaining size, the ones who stay "clean" and more ripped year round never seem to put on much size. I bulk up big-time off-season, though my bodyfat never goes above 12-13%, and I have no trouble getting it back down to competition levels within 10 weeks every single time I diet. I think that article is a bit biased and certainly does not apply to everyone.
i agree with bigD. i would rather eat as many calories as possible, just to know im building as much muscle as possible. eating clean during a bulking cycle just doesnt seem like you maximize your gear. just my opinion though

12-13% is not what I call a "big time bulk" Thats the kinda of bulk descibed in the article above.......

Originally posted by DiamondBling the article applies to the softcore person or fitness person. If you are a hardcore bodybuilder, no way will u bulk clean.
I dont think its necesarily about keeping the diet perfectly "clean" so to speak, just to not let your bodyfat get out of hand becuase of what you want the scale to say.....

IMHO, not eating clean and calling it "bulking" is just an excuse for lack of self control. I can understand if you are 250+, but most of us aren't. I eat unbelievably clean year round, even while bulking (sometimes at 6000+ calories), and yes, I put on fat because I have a definate calorie surplus.
Well, my bf may not get too high, but believe me I bulk with bad foods. Triple cheeseburgers, cookie-dough out of the tube, 2 liters of cherry coke every day. As long as I get my protein in, anything is fair game. That's what I meant. I guess I'm lucky that I don't get too fat doing that is all, but I DO bulk up with very "dirty" foods, lol

I know what you meant, it's just that most people need "clean" foods to keep BF down while on bulk. But if your Bf stays low eating "dirty" foods more power to ya.

I guess more power to me then, lol. I can take the fat( and muscle) off at an amazing rate with just a normal diet and no cardio, but putting it on and especially holding onto it while dieting is a real *****! And i'm a mesomorph too, not a skinny ecto... I just got genetically shafted like that, lol

I agree with the article, but the amount of fat you gain is dictated by your caloric intake. Not where those cals come from.
thats kinda wrong bro , say u eat 500 cals from glucose, and the same 500 cals from low GI complex carbs , eating the total amount of calories the same , the amount of fat gained will be more with the glucose , just giving u an example .

that is the best article I have seen so far. I see alot of pictures on the websites I have started looking at, and many people forget what BB'ing is all about. Looking good. 13+% bodyfat doesn't look good. That is what I am planning on doing if I do a cycle. If not, I will stay that way. Constantly around 8%. This way if I have to diet down. I factor in nearly no muscle loss. Of course I don'l look as big as the local McD's attender, but I am content with that. Hi, board I'm new. It's good to be here.
I know your not trying to be condesending, but you do realize what looks "good" to you and what looks "good" to others could be very different. Some people love being at 13%+ and feel that looks best. This is about our own goals.

Well I'm done with the big and bulky look for good anyway. Tired of getting bloated and huge then getting cut and doing it all over again. Plus I don't look half as good as when I am all nice and lean and I look more muscular anyway when I'm lean and feel a hell of a lot better and I'm just as strong.
