  • The Insulin THREAD

ok- all the information you get from this is at your own risk. IF you have a question about it ask it here. Do not be afraid to ask a question. Vets, i want zero flames. Post your experience or your fears and attitudes, but in a nice way.

    warning

insulin is not to be taken lightly. It has the power to kill you the first time and everytime if you dont respect it.

    now lets hear some questions...

      Yes and no.

It's that dangerous if you don't respect it. Take the proper precautions and you'll be fine.

For example.. start at 4IU and slowly work your way up. Don't do 12IU your first time then go to McDonalds.

Keep a couple of 2liters of Cola handy, it's an excellent source of emergency carbs.

novolin reli on 10ml $48.86 for 3 vials

but its not over the counter......you have to have a note for all diabetes products.

What's for them to suspect? It's legal to have and use...even if your not a diabetic.

If they ask, just tell them your a diabetic.

Remember, you don't want the regular insulin that diabetics use. You want the fast acting stuff. Humalog-r I believe.

Anyone got a handy link to a list of insulin forumla's and their reaction time?

Really? That's a new one to me. May just be that store's policy.

Point 1: You can order Humalog from Canada. It's OTC there.

Point 2: Everyone reacts to insulin different. I just get fat. Other people blow up (muscle wise). It's one of those things you have to figure out for yourself. Start low, go from there.
