A friend of mine has a hand held electronic bf measurer. It's made by Omicron. Anyone know if they are accurate or not?

That's what I was thinking man. There are too many variables: when you use it, what your last meal was... etc... Thanks for the input bro.

Doesnt bother me, I have never had mine checked and probably never will. I have never been fat. Once I hit 30 I have a little bf around my midsection but nothing serious. I dont need to be a certain percentage as long as i'm happy with myself. But I sure would'nt post my bf% as 5 I know its not that low.

I've been at 5% once in my life and the doc was freaking, actually I was 6' , 150 lbs too. Not very healthy. The difference between 15 and 20% isn't that big but between 5 and 10 it's tremendous.

Well you just seen me this weekend and even in my sickly condition I'm 220 at about 2% bodyfat! hehehehe..... Yeah right I wish. :p

I have a Tanita electronic body fat scale which sends the electrical impulse through the feet. I got the lowest model a long time ago which doesn't have setting to specify if you are athletic or not. In any event, I'm about 187.5 lbs right now and the scale says 24% bf. Just for the record, I am NOWHERE near that. Probably about 13% or 12%.

We use one of those electrical tests at work where you hold it an put in a bunch of variables into it. I don't know why we use it because most of the time it is off. It always gives me about 3-4% more than I really am. One of the biggest factors in it is how well hydrated you are when you do it.

                          Txshooter,

You just made my day. Nurse checked mine twice last year, 15 one time 18 the other, I said no way. She disagreed with me, and was sure device was correct.

I said I know my body and I carry 10-12% year round and have for years, the only difference is water weight. Since I eat clean 80% of time, when I go crazy I can put on 10lbs of water weight in a few days, which I was holding at the time.

So, your post makes sense to me.
