  • Music and Intensity

Just like to know what everyone here thinks of listening to music when you work out. Does it give you extra energy or more intensity?

    Personally, I listen to:

    TOOL
    NIN
    Marilyn Manson
    MINISTRY

Amoungst other stuff. I find that I can really get into 'the zone' if I have a hard-edged track playing. I have a workout partner for about 50% of the time. The other 50% my workout partner is TOOL blaring in my ears.
I know nothing about any of this insanity... it's just a fun game to me.

Dude, music really helps! I like hard, heavy, and loud. I have found the more pissed I get the stronger and more reps I get. So, aggresive music helps.

I love music while I train dependning the mood im in. If im pissed off I listen to heavy metal, rock, hard rock, alternative. When Im in just a good mood I jam out to rave, trance, r&b, hip-hop, rap, internatinal, slow songs, I need music no matter what. Helps too.

i probably couldnt lift with the same intensity and focus if i didnt have my mp3. tupac, 50, nas, jay-z, metallica reigns supreme on my playlist. I think for me personally, its the focus i have, when plugged into the player, and kinda living in your own little world for the 1 hour you're blasting those sets

I have been listening to GODSMACK for the past 2 years. That shit makes me a madman while working out!
I live in my own little world. But it's OK. They know me here

Pantera is my favorite to listen to while working out. I work out at home so I can listen to anything I want as loud as I want while I'm lifting.

Slayer, S.O.D., Anthrax, Down and Metallica are other bands that I like to play while I work out.

Honestly, while I'm lifting, I dont really hear the music. But in between sets I can hear it.........pretty weird.

                  ps.
The S.O.D. that I am talking about is 'StormTroopers Of Death', not "System of a Down".

i noticed that i "don't hear" the music while lifiting either; either that or i'm just too damed focus on the particular exercise. i notice i tune most everything out during the lift.

I would agree. It's a normal thing to do when focused... but between sets and when you're getting psyched up for the next set... it's great to have intense music.
