  • Advice on 1st Time Insulin Use?

    I am considering using Humulin-R slin post workout only. I have read quite a bit about it usage and still have a couple of questions.

    First, I am 41 years old, 5’10” tall and weigh 210 pounds at 18.5% BF. This is down a bit from 16 months ago when I was 232 pounds and 32% BF. I am on my 5th cycle, which is 500mg Test Enanthate, 450mg Deca, and 400mg of Equipose weekly.

    I plan to consume a shake with 92 carbs {dextrose} and 50 grams of whey immediately post. I plan to start with 5iu and up the dosage 1iu per post workout day until I reach 10iu. My current diet is 12 calories per pound on a 50/30/20 split of protein, carbs, and fat. In order to increase my post workout drink to accommodate the additional carbs, I will need to go to a 45/40/15 split or have zero carbs for the meal scheduled 2 hours after the injection.

    First question: I have read that slin use CAN make one fatter if the diet is slack. My meal two hours after injection would consist of about 8 oz. Of chicken/tuna, whole kernel corn, and wheat bread. The consensus is that this meal needs to be high protein and moderate carbs. What would be considered moderate carbs?

    Second question: With my BF at 18.5%, should I get this on down to 10-12% before considering slin? I am currently weight training 4 days per week and also do cardio 4 days per week on an elliptical runner for 35 minutes at a 10-minute mile pace keeping my heart rate in the 150 range. I had hoped that the cardio and a clean diet would deter any increase in body fat.

    I would get as close as possible to 10-12% before considering insulin.
    I eat at least 6 times a day to build my body

      Thanks....that's what I thought. My training partner wanted me to start with him {he's 230@9-10% BF} but I was hesitant because of my high BF.

        On top of getting your bodyfat down, there is really no point to using insulin post-workout unless you are trying to bulk-up.

        Second, Humulin-r is not a good choice to use post work-out because it takes to long to kick in and stays around for 4-6 hours. Get Humulogue if you can. It is faster and you won't get yourself in as much potentially dangerous situations.

        Third, and most importantly, if you do use Humulin-r, your post workout of dextrose and protein is fine (100 grams and 50 grams) however your next meal will absolutely not due. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. The Humulin-r kicks in really hard after or right about the 3rd hour. For that reason, your next full meal after your shake has to have a good deal of carbs in it, atleast another 75-100 (preferably with some simple) I use 1 cup of oatmeal with 1 or 2 TBLS of honey. Don't get yourself into a situation where you can't eat that next meal on time, or you will go into a hypoglycemic shock and start sweating and geting dizzy and confused- OR WORSE. Trust me, it has happened to me on as little as 8 iu. Also, the amount of insulin that you take is related to whether or not you are using GH. You can tolerate insulin a lot better if you are.

        My best advice, get Humologue or stay away from slin

          yep i use humalog myself its fast and if you eat fat a few hrs later it does not bother my waist line as bad

            Why are you going to use slin?
            Also your bf is too high because slin will put on a slight bit more bf.
            Just be careful brother, and don't go to sleep while the slin is active

              I agree with the suggestion to go with Humalog if at all possible. If you're worried about fat gain just be sure to run some lypolitic agent alongside your slin (i.e. clen, eca) and fat accumulation should be pretty minimal.

                SJr76... that's really good advice. Use the fast acting slin if you are going to use it at all. Stay awake and have your carb drinks handy that shit is no joke. Do a lot of research talk to peeps who are doing it, give it some thought before you decide. Good luck.

                    let us know how things go and which you end up going with, I'm becoming very curious towards slin, might be somethin new to try late in the year.
