mixing your own GH

I was told by a biology professor that you can purchase kits to make GH. I was wondering if anyone else has thought about doing this, or has tried it. I am sure that it couldn't be that much tougher than some of the other experiments that are done...

No way that I am thinking about making my own GH, chemistry/biology is obviously not my field. I don't know NEARLY enough about it to even consider it.
