worked at the airport 10 yrs and there is always some asshole looking for a promotion. if caught you're on FEDERAL property. it's not like they will let you go and see you in court later. it's the perfect time to scrutinize steroids and toss your ass in the slammer. the bros with all this great advise won't be there to bail your ass out. LOOK BRO. just take the train so you can relax with no worry. the money you save you can buy mors gear or anti e's.

They do it just prior to boarding as well. I'v been called out of line 3 times in the last year. They use the wand, pat you down, empty out your pockets, check your shoes and go through everythign in your carry-on. They even opened up my wallet and went through that. Supposedly it's random (and a little profiling), so I wouldn't ever risk it. .

Here's my experience with this. Last time I traveled from LA to NY i had a little metal medallion in my wallet and that set the alarm off so i had to go through this whole search crap so taping it to you wouldnt be a good idea. Then when I arrived in NY there was a tag taped to my bag saying how it had been searched so sticking it in a bag is a bad idea as well. Mailing it would be the best way and in my opinion I'd overnight it this way there's no time for them to BS around with your package because it has to be at your location the next day.

BTW the magnetic strip in my passport sets off metal detectors now... if it has even a slight bit of metal it might get picked up
