  • Cardio? lose muscle?

    If you do Cardio do you lose muscle. a guy at the gym told me that, and i love looking vascular and was conisdering doing some minor cardio like 12-15 minutes of running and 10 minutes of walking afterwards to get that vascular look all the time but i dont want to lose any muscle, im working so hard to get that muscle.

    and when is the best time to do cardio? before/ after workout or on a totally different day?

    The general consensus for dropping bodyfat is to do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (maybe include an E/C/A stack 1/2 hour before cardio. Low to mid intensity.
    You are already at 7% BF you must be ripped as hell already. I am at 14% and having a hard time getting lower. I am jealous of you big time. I'll be happy if I can get down to 10% myself but 7% I may even be willing to give up a toe.

      If you do morning cardio, you can drink a WPI shake before and it will help preserve muscle.

        whats an E/C/A stack. and a WPI shake?
        dont mean to sound stupid

        and ACEdaboss, i wouldnt say Ripped i just used to be a scronny lil *****. not that i am any different now. i just have muscle under where the skin used to lay on my bones.

              the ultimate hardgainer doesnt need cardio, but the other 95% should. It helps with nutrient repartitioning, and helps strengthen the most important muscle, the heart. Pre breakfast is the best option for fat loss, but directly after working out is an okay option, if not looking for extreme fat loss, as in your case. I do 15 minutes on an inclined treadmill, walking at 4 mph. Nothing major, but it has made a difference in my bf%.

                do u think its better to do AM cardio on empty stomach or have a protein shake before??? in my case i wan aloss ALOta fat

                  just keep up your protein intake keep cardio to 30-40min and you should be fine

                    what if u cant do it in the moring ,and say u wanna drop 2-3 % do u do after or before workout ?also what kind of cardio walking inline on the machiene and for how long ,remeber dont wanna loose any muscle whatso ever .

                        if you can not do it in the morning.... do it after you lift.... intense cardio can be somewhat catabolic so i have been told. Most in my gym walk at full incline at a moderate pace between 30-45min.... just my .02

                          Jay C - what does this guy at the gym look like that told you not to do cardio? is he as ripped as you? if not tell him to go fuck himself no matter how big he is. most people including myself are more impressed with definition than size.

                            well dick he has 3% bf 365 days a year. he is who actually got me started doing sauce. he does EQ every day of the year and test. he has never told me exactly what he does. hes 23 and has been on for a while. His body is amazing. hes probably 215 lbs 5'9-10" and the tannest human ever and the most vascular, except for those using diuretics for comps. Every guy wishes they could be him.

                            he doesnt do any cardio and if he walks up 4 flights of stairs hes puffing but hes amazing.

                            his diet is what keeps him so cut. all meat, small carb and lil to no fat at all. just whats in the meat. he ate 976 lbs of beef in one semester at school. hes a farmer and it was his cow. till he ate it.

                              well... first running eq year round is playing russian roulette.

                              second... when your body gets under about 4% body fat you start losing fat around your eyes and kidneys which is VERY dangerous. you're more likely to damage your eyes or kidneys. do his eyes look sunken in? i actually mentioned this in another thread.

                              it's not worth looking that vascular if his endurance sucks that bad. i'm about 5% right now (have been a little lower) and can get on a treadmill and run a half marathon at 8 minute miles no problem.

                              don't follow in his footsteps no matter how good he looks... remember. CLEAN GLOVES HIDE DIRTY HANDS.
