If you sign for it then that is just one more piece of evidence the DA can use to prove that the gear belongs to you. Of course there are many variables that can exist here and it certainly isn't black and white.
Just use common sense when signing. If something looks suspicious or if you have a bad feeling then go with your instinct and refuse delivery.
Remember this, Being arrested and being convicted are two different things.
If you sign for a package then they can arrest you for possession, but they might need more to convict.
This is a sensitive subject with no right or wrong answer. Every situation is different therefore just be cautious even if it means losing some cash.
If you dont accept the package there is little the authorities can do.
Originally posted by AceDaBoss Ok I am confused. My friend is expecting from over seas and I thought you MUST SIGN from over seas True or not?
well all i know is they wont give it to me unless i show ID and sign
you'll prolly have to sign ...no biggie.....if you miss it at home ...ou might have to go to the post office and sign for it ....its kinda nerve racking ....but its fine....just act like your picking up something legal ( i know thats some f'n sweet advice)
act like your picking up something legal...hahahaha.........whoooo i need to go to bed...
I personally would not use a source where I was required to sign.
Call me paranoid, but I will NEVER sign for gear. I have waivers with Fedex and UPS where they will leave packages at my doorstep when I'm not around. It's on those slips you get...you can check the box stated "I'm waiving the signature requirement..."
Can you get something from over seas without signing? Because he was told ieven if they check no signature (which they have done before) it doesn't matter they will still have to sign. Is this BS or not?
The whole write "Return to Sender" on it thing is worthless. It's a rumor that some kid probably dreamed up. If they catch you with it they will charge you no matter what you wrote on the package. If they charge you they have to prove you knowingly possessed it - which they can do simply by proving that you had it and they will get an inference that people know what has been ordered to their house. Moreover, they will probably take your computer and find out enough to convict you (and probably bust you for that kiddy-porn you've been looking at too. lol).
if i am not mistaken, recieving a package in the mail filled with illegal goods is not in itself illegal if you want to look through a loophole. i could go buy a pound of heroin, and send it to anyone and inform the cops of a drug deal going down.
when you recieve the package, it gives the reason to search the rest of your house. Now if you got gear in your house, your fucked.
