  • how much weight does equipment add

Lets say u start to practice with a squat suit or bench shirt or even knee wraps. how much would that add to ur 3 lift total if u knew how to use the equipment. I know the raw numbers are way lower on the bench and squat without the suits and the pull would be lower too.

Anyways. The GM at my gym benches like 730 with a shirt and using the 3 board. this dude sqauts 900. im just wondering how strong he is raw? I didnt believe him about his numbers until I saw it on youtube. but his ass never touches the bench. and with the 3 board its like a 8 inch range of motion.

It varies from person to person and time spent training in and learning the gear. There are people who get 300+ in squat suits and bench shirts, but this doesn't mean someone could just throw on gear and get that much of a carry over. The training is very different and technique has to be dead on. If your guy never goes full range, then I doubt he'd be close to 7 under meet conditions. Too many people stroke their ego by doing board work in a shirt and then when it comes time to get on the platform, they cant touch their chests or end up dumping the weight. Not saying this is the case with him, but just a common thing. Who is he? If I know him I could prolly tell you what he's at raw.

Buddy Hull. He is on youtube or just google search him. he has a video with 665 with no board. regardless dude is super strong. I just have never used any gear. I did a raw show where they wouldnt even let us use chalk. the only gear u could use was a belt.

His vids aren't too bad. What's he weigh, around 230? I think I remember when you did that meet, you squatted mid 4's right? From what I remember that was pretty good at your bodyweight.

          my bench was low 300s
          squat was mid 400s
deal was low 500s. I weighed in at 189.

I have been training super hard. im shooting for a comp febuary.

i want to hit 1435 or anything over 1400 would make me pretty happy. Ill compete at 176 though. I walk around at 195 -200 right now.

          355 bench
          495 squat
          585 dead

frm watching all his videos i would say that he might be a 500 raw bencher. I thought for a comp lift though you have to have your hips planted on the bench. He doesn't have anything touching but his shoulders. Personally i would never bench like that.

yeah u need 5 points of contact. head, shoulders, butt, and both feet. that wasnt a comp... it was just him and his meat head buddies. its like he limbos or some shit.

He uses the Metal Militia tye of bench set up. It's like youre spring loaded, youre body is kept very tight and youre maximizing the arch as well as keeping your butt in contact with the bench. I've tried that kind of set up but it kills my back for days, lol
