For a little more context, my son has shown an interest in strength training for athletics/powerlifting. He is a baseball player and football player turning 13 soon.
I know the typical Starting Strength, etc. but I haven't been a beginner looking for a fundamental "explain everything from square 1" type book in a few decades. I would be interested in any recommendations to that effect.
He's a fairly smart kid and I wouldn't worry too much about it being age-appropriate beyond the fact that I do want it to be intended for beginners. He loves to read, and I think this would be a good way for him to learn the basics before we give it a go.
It also doesn't need to be focused on powerlifting specifically. That's just my background and I trust this community more than something like a bodybuilding community.
