  • "Not a Significant Source of Protein"?

A friend of mine says that when you see this on the nutrition label by the grams of protein, that they are not to be counted as protein eaten that day. For example, a 4 ounce bag of pork skins {no carbs} has 72 grams of protein BUT with an asterik that says "not a significant source of protein". I have also seen this on some sliced, prepackaged, sandwich meats.

What's the deal...can it be counted or not?

    Thanks,

    Farrar

Yes it can be counted, sandwhich meat with no signifigant protein? Maybe if its vegetarian sandwhich meat. Dotn count protein from bread sources, only meat, eggs, and protein powders count.
