Mummies from different times, places shared key heart risk
CHICAGO (Reuters) - CT scans of 137 mummies spanning four geographies and 4,000 years of history show that hardening of the arteries was commonplace, especially in older individuals, suggesting this key sign of heart disease may be a part of aging rather than the byproduct of eating too many Big Macs.

actually, this is a selection bias. Only the super rich could afford to get mummified, I'm guessing they also ate lots of fatty foods, rich foods, and did not have the moderate to severe calorie restriction of their lesser counterparts. ( the latter has been shown to protect the heart and extend lifespan significantly). Also calcified plaque does not necessarily mean unstable plaque that ruptures and causes heart attacks.
