whats everyones opinion on using the commercial gainers as a pwo shake?
Do you know where one builds action, stamina and guts? In the gym under the iron day after day, forever without fail or excuses or grumbling, that’s where. It’s true. I read a study somewhere and that’s what it said, really.

There’d be fewer battles, less drugs and less crime and more happy moms and dads if we all lifted weights… let’s face it. In what recent medical journal was I reading that?

.....the basics need to be lifted high in this age of retarded new wave info. dave draper

Well the reason they are high calorie is because the ungodly amount of simple carbs in them. Your best bet is a homemade one, high protein, moderate carbs, moderate essential fats. If you need a recipe, let me know.

              Try this one brother......

              15oz Milk
              2 scoops natural peanut butter
2 scoops whey protein (or protein blend)
              1/3 cup crushed oatmeal
1 (2 if you like) table spoons flax oil
              1 banana (if you'd like)
*If you use Vanilla protein powder, add some natural vanilla extract

              Or

              12 oz milk
              1/3 cup crushed oatmeal
              1/3 cup cottage cheese
              2 scoops peanut butter
              1 tablespoon flax oil

*I prefer the 1st, due to its high protein, moderate carbs, moderate good fats. I would list the calories and the macronutrient breakdown, but it depends on your protein powder, flax oil, etc. so its to hard to tell. If you have no flax oil, canola oil will do. Will pack on the mass for sure, been using it for a few months now (when I bulk) and its certainly a help, try it out, the taste is actually very good as opposed to the way it sounds

Here's a recipe for some bulking, homemade protein bars from a good friend, Wardog.....

                #1 Here is the recipe:

                16 ounces Natural peanut butter
                8 tablespoons honey
six scoops of Optimum Chocolate whey protein powder
                1 cup of uncooked oatmeal

Mix the pb and honey in a bowl, microwave on full for 80 secs. Add the rest and mix together. Can add raisins/nuts etc to taste. Smooth into 13x9 tray and leave for 20 mins. Cut into 10 to 12 equal bars and wrap and store in fridge.

Now here is the breakdown on a batch of the goodies:

                Protein: 254 grams
                Carbohydrates: 282 grams
                Fats: 236 grams

This batch gives you a whopping 4268 calories. Thats right, over 4000 Calories and 250+ grams of protein.

If you're trying to add weight, yes. Its very inexpensive to make and a killer meal replacement. You can tweak it to your preferences also. If you think its too much omega fats (for whatever reason), leave out the oil, if you want more carbs, up the amount of oatmeal, if you want it slower digesting, add some cottage cheese, etc.
