Governor signs new law for abortion clinics in Michigan
Governor signs new law for abortion clinics in Michigan
(Reuters) - Michigan's Republican governor on Friday signed into law new rules for abortion providers that supporters say will protect the health of pregnant women but critics say will shutter clinics and restrict access.

2 things- 1) this is an overreach of government into a private matter, something a real Republican should friggin understand.
2) The article makes it sound like all planned parenthood does is abortions. Wrong, 97% of services are for contraception so women can prevent getting an abortion, treatment and tests for sexually transmitted diseases, cancer screenings, and other women’s health services...( I used to do breast exams and then get them to a mammogram if I felt anything abnormal).

As a tax payer, I'd much rather pay for contraception then pay for an abortion or welfare for an entire life time.

Contrary to popular belief, any tax monies funding planned parenthood does not go to abortions, only the STD testing, contraceptives etc. So when people lobby to stop tax monies going to planned parenthood, they are only stopping the very services that would prevent welfare babies...idiots...
Re: Governor signs new law for abortion clinics in Michigan
PP gets it's federal funding from things like the Title X funds and medicaid. Regarding the former, by law it may not be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning. Regarding medicaid, the Hyde Amendment restricts abortion cases to those involving rape, incest or endangerment to the life of the mother. I see a upper class clientele, where about 80% of private plans pay for abortions ( as it should since it is a legal medical procedure.)
Re: Governor signs new law for abortion clinics in Michigan
For the record, we should repeal the Hyde amendment. I would rather have my state medicaid tax monies pay for cheap abortions than lifetime welfare checks for their offsprings....
