Cannabis oil is a highly efficient natural cancer cure
Re: Cannabis oil is a highly efficient natural cancer cure
In vitro study and few testimonials won't be enough without in vivo and human clinical trials to sway doctors. ( Just because it kills glioma cells on a petri dish, doesn't mean it kills gliomas imbedded in living brains). Testimonials don't account for confounding factors. (Remember, placebo effect works 20% of the time, even for some low grade cancers). Unfortunately, you are right about there being no money in it right now. It's another reason why most doctors want to legalize marijuana. There are tons of data in it's efficacy for treating miserable symptoms associated with Multiple Sclerosis, chronic pain etc ( Regarding the latter, I have yet to have a coroner call me telling me someone overdosed on marijuana instead of methadone for pain.) All the trials done in other countries ( that ironically have universal health care). Once this can be legalized, pharmaceutical companies can produce high grade , quality controlled marijuana and its extracts, we can get funding for research without any stigma attached and so on.

I'm a shameless capitalist but Americans need to be asking why countries with universal healthcare are on the leading edge of this kind of innovative research? Free market principles work up to a point in medicine. When profit motivated companies provide major funding for medical research, you have to assume there is a chance for inflation of positive data and suppression of negative data. ( which is why most physicians look to NIH sponsored research ( government) or clinical trials done in EUrope, Canada, Japan, Australia, Taiwan....all with universal healthcare.) The reason, in general, non- profit entities have no vested interest on whether a drug or medical device works or not. Also, in a profit motivated society, research is not done just for the sake of it ( which is actually the best kind , it is called non-directed research) but only funded and launched if it will make money. Once again, which is why NIH sponsored research is the best...It's not to say we shouldn't have profit motivated companies doing research , there are many instances where it works, but we need realize that this is crippling some really innovative medical research
whats crazy is even a Buffoon like pat robertson thinks we should legalize marijuana! By the way, DB medical rants is my favorite blogger from an internist who is libertarian.
