You can only get it if you have already had chicken pox

I have had them 2 times, my grandmother had them prob 8 times. stress can bring it on just like a feverblister! they hurt and suck. meds will help make it go away.

No I haven't had it again.. Doctor put me on Valtrex and it went away almost immediately.

I had the chicken pox when I was 3 or 4.. 10 yrs ago and 6 yrs ago I had the shingles. I don't know where I got them from. But because of my health history and no immune system I had them twice. It sucks and they hurt and they itch !.

They make a vaccine for it, and if your family members have had issues everyone should look into it. Shingles can have serious long term complications.

My father has postherpetic neuralgia from shingles so bad he is prescribed methadone. It's been almost two years and still no signs of improvement. He can no longer work and can barely function. Trying now for SS disability. He's only 56.

Never had it, but i hear that the irritation and itching is soo bad that you wish for death. It is very uncomfortable to where you can not even tolerate it.

I had them a couple of months ago. No itching, just burning and pain. Sure hope they fon't come back and the marks on my skin haven't even faded yet.

i got them many years ago and was told they wont come back but who knows. i had scars for a while but they went away thank goodness.

So many new members since I started this thread. Anyone else ever have this? If so, fif you periodically have some pop up when your immune system was low?
