is atkins diet ok for some1 who has had a heart attack?

my dad just started the atkins diet and i told him to talk to his doctor 1st because about 5 years ago he had a heart attack. Does any1 know if the atkins diet might be a bad idea for him?

I'm highly skeptical of any diet that includes bacon and sausage for someone with coronary artery disease. The pro-atkins folk will swear that their labs on cholesterol, triglycerides n stuff are good, but I remain skeptical. A common sense, balanced diet including moderate complex carbs, low sugar, and fats that are mostly EFA's makes more sense, combined with exercise, but I'm a bodybuilder, not a doctor. He should definitrely see a doctor, get his lab work checked, etc.
