      lasix

problem with lasix is it causes you to lose potassium. when you're on steroids your body needs almost as much potassium as it can absorb from the diet. low K can cause weakness, conduction problems in the heart, and inhibit growth. so if you choose lasix i'd eat a ton of bananas and drink a lot of orange juice! you also want to stay away from thiazide diuretics as well (they're less potent than lasix, work by a different mechanism, and also cause K wasting).

if you want take a diuretic while on i'd use a potassium sparing diuretic like spironolactone or triamtrene or an ace inhibitor (captopril, enalopril, ramipril, etc). these all cause the body to hold onto potassium and excrete the sodium that's making you all look bloated. yes, these can be dangerous as well, but far less dangerous than the potent lasix.
