  • Palumbo diet?

    anyone ever try this?

    Palumbo Diet:

    Supps:
    ESSENTIAL POLYUNSATURATES:
-Omega-3 Fish Oil pills 1000mg 3x per day
-Evening Primrose Oil (Omega-6) 1300mg 2x per day
-Extra Virgin Olive Oil is still better for your heart! These are HEART HEALTHY MONOUNSATURATED FATS (along with MACADAMIA NUT OIL). MONO's are NOT essential fats; however, they ARE very heart healthy.

    NON ESSENTIAL but HEART HEALTHY
Macadamia Nut oil (Omega-9 monosaturates) 2-3 ablespoons per day
I'm a believer in a good whole food supplement. I've mentioned it before:

Juice Plus+ gives you 12 servings of fruits and veggies in 4 pills (no sugar, no fiber). http://www.juiceplus.com/nsa/pages/H...a?site=dp02724

    Good legal Test/anti-aromatase:
    6-oxo or Gaspari Novedex XT

    Liver Support:
LIV-52 by Himalayan Labs for liver detoxification at its best!

    Take all supps with food

    Diet: (for 250lb man)
    Meal 1 6 whole Omega-3 eggs
Meal 2 8oz chicken with 1/2 cup raw almonds
Meal 3 50g whey with 2 tablespoons all natural peanutbutter (PWO)
Meal 4 8oz salmon with 1 cup asparagus with 1 tablespoon macadamia nut oil
    Meal 5 50 g whey with 2 tablespoon PB
    Meal 6 6 whole eggs
    (5 meals for Women)

HAVE YOUR CHEAT MEAL ON THE SAME DAY EVERY WEEK, last meal of the day so you dont cheat again.

    FOR WEIGHT GAIN:
Follow my same formula. . . High protein (50g per meal), Moderate Fat (25g per meal), and moderate carbs (35-50g per meal). If you're a hard gainer, eat 8-10 meals. If you're an easy gainer (but get fat easily), stick to 6 meals per day.

For the 1000th time, when following my diet plan (which includes getting your brain into ketosis), there can be NO starchy carbs eaten!

    Cardio:
CARDIO should be performed at a low intensity (under 120bpm heartrate). This will ensure that you use FAT as a fuelsource since as your heartrate increase, carbohydrates begin to become the preferred fuel of choice for the body. When on a low carb diet, you're body will break down muscle and turn that into carbs. Remember, Fat CANNOT be changed into carbs. Therefore, for bodybuilding, the rule of cardio should be LONG DURATION, LOW INTENSITY

    Forget using:
-MCT's are a waste when you're dieting. If you're gonna use FATS for an energy source, they might as well serve a function in the body. MCTs are useless. They can only serve as a source of energy!
-Arginine is not going to do anything. It will DO something; just not dramatic

    Re: Palumbo diet?

My husband used Palumbo's Diet while I was on my pre-contest diet. He wanted to do the same competition that I was in, but his body just stalled out and he couldn't lose the rest of the fat that he needed to. He didn't compete. On a positive note he did lose 40 pounds!

What did we learn? This diet works really well, but it seems like you can't stay on it very long. Your body will stall out and you will reach a plateau. It also is a very difficult diet. Keeping your carbs at zero and refueling with fat makes some people feeling sluggish and tried. What I'd suggest is Staying on it for 8 weeks no longer than 10. Spend a week carb loading or carb cycling then modify the diet from week to week until you get to your goal weight.

        Re: Palumbo diet?

I would definitely recommend it so some one who is carb sensitive. It seems to work really well for them.

It seem to work well for my husband because he is allergic to glutton (wheat) and dairy. He said his stomach did so much better when he doesn't eat these kinds of foods. This diet was a good fit for him. He is back on it, but he is modifying it so he will not stall out again. I'm trying it with him, but this is only my first week on it. I'll let you know how it goes.

I am doing my own variation of a Palumbo diet but pretty much like it is there. I do agree that u stall out, but its been working pretty well for me. I am currently looking to change my diet though and really get one specific for my unique body type.

medium chain triglycerides. they sell an mct oil supplement. you take a tablespoon of the oil and mix it in your protein drink or in cooking your food.

It sounds tempting, but after hearing DC- I'm concerned that once I stall(if it happens) when I start to eat again- I will gain more than when I started. Being I don't compete- I need slow and steady

undecided, i may just go low carb like i did for nationals this august, leaned out, stayed strong. don't know about zero carb.

                          Re: Palumbo diet?

                          steak will be fine

this is just a keto-genic diet

ie, low no carbs, and he subs fat to get in calories, if you note the cals from the real foods are not that high

really, any six meals a day biased towards protein and low carb will work

it's the consistency issue, no magic bullets

This diet sounds akin to the Anabolic Diet - which I'm currently on... been using it since September of 2008 and loving every minute... I'm down 20lbs of fat and now gaining back muscle to the tune of 6 lbs in the last 4 weeks - based upon my calculations... ketogenic diets rock for those of us that are very carb sensitive...
