  • Question about Post Workout Shake..

I usually have a scoop of ON %100 WHEY protein, and after a workout I have another scoop of whey and what I've been doing is putting a complex carb drink with my protein shake...so I add 1 scoop of whey and 1 scoop of complex carb... do you think it's fine or should I take the complex carb drink seperately. 1 serving of the carbs has 28 grams of carbs..

Also, this carb powder I have a 10lb jug...it expired in February. Still good to use or no... it tastes good to me.,

I mix them together. I throw 3 scoops of ON 100% whey and 1 scoop of carbo hit. Its like making your own weight gainer shake

Oh and I would say still good all it probably is, is maltodextrin (sp?)

If complex carb drink is maltodextrin and dextrose, that is perfect to mix with protein as post workout shake.

Carbs are just as important post workout to replenish muscle energy stores. Post workout shake should be taken within 1/2 hour of workout. Throw a banana in your shake.

I do a few things.. either 50/50 malto/dex and then a combo of hydrolyzed whey and ion-exchange whey, or just some sugary cereal followed by and omelette, or waxy maize followed by more carbs and protein.

the maltodextrin really improves the taste of my shake. I use ON 100% whey strawberry flavor and on its own...the taste really sucks. I wish it was like muscle milk.

baby1...I have to question your suggestion on throwing a banana in your post work out shake...Doesn't this slow the digestion process; therefore, not allowing the protein and carbs to get in your system ASAP?
