  • Eggs-Cooked or Raw

Ive been having a habit of putting about 7 egg whites in some soymilk and mostly water, blending it really well and then adding my protein. Only because it is faster than cooking them. Could i possibly get any bacteria from doing it this way? I just find it much faster if im in a hurry, and ive not had any problems with my stomach or anything doing it this way. It makes for a very creamy, frothy shake.

you dont have any worries about catching anything. the chance a raw egg actually has some harmful bacteria is very small. i boil mine just because i think raw eggs are dirty. but no bro there isnt any health risk

ive read many articles about eating raw eggs and they all seem to say close to the same thing that eating raw eggs is almost pointless. It's so hard for your body to breakdown a raw egg that it consumes almost all of the calotical value of the egg in just breaking it down

^hmmm...i never heard this. I would tend to think cooking them would take out more of the nutrients. I must look into this.

I've heard the opposite. Eating egg whites in their raw state is better than cooked as the cooking denatures the protein - plus eating only whites requires additional biotin in the diet - which is usually found in high/sufficient amounts in the yoke. Therefore, supplementing with biotin is a must if you're eating a lot of egg whites - one of the best sources is liver. Hence, I consume liver tablets with my egg whites. I'll try to find the article/website for you.

i always thought that its the outside of the shell that has the bacteria, not the actual egg? so I'd say just make sure you don't get any on the shell? And wash your hands....lol

Ok, guys i will continue with my routine, lol! It is just soo easy to break 7-8 whites, put them in the blender and add the powder. Much easier than cooking.

Yep! The human body doesn't digest raw eggs very well. Doing so will just cheat your body. There has been a lot of studies that have proven this. Something about the cooking process breaking down the protein into a form that the human bocy can digest.
