The Best Natural Anti Depressants – A Guide

A lot of people, weary of the conventional medicines offered by pharmaceutical corporations, have begun to turn to natural supplements to aid their depression. Why would they do this? Well, there are many herbs and minerals out there that have proven to aid in depression for thousands of years. Also, many of the products marketed for depression by pharmaceutical companies have laundry lists of side-effects that can sometimes be worse than depression in and of itself.

Here is a small list of some of the herbs and supplements that have proven successful over the years in the area of depression aids:

St. John’s Wort: Also known as hypericum, a double-blind study of St. John’s Wort was recently conducted to determine its use as an anti-depressant. The query resulted in St. John's Wort being as effective as its pharmaceutical counterparts but with less occurrences of side effects. This alone proves the fact that hypericum can be a very useful supplement when dealing with depression. Also, St. John’s Wort can be found at a fraction of the cost of the anti depressants offered by drug companies. It’s even been used for around 2,400 years! St John’s Wort is clearly one of the best natural anti depressants.

Gingko Biloba: One of the world’s oldest living species of trees, Gingko Biloba has proven time and time again to be effective in the treatment of memory loss, lack of alertness, and most importantly, depression. Increasing blood flow to the brain, it also controls the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain, aiding depression further. With regards to St. John’s Wort, Gingko Biloba is probably the second of the best natural anti depressants.

Also, Saffron has been known to help depression. Studies have shown that it may be of therapeutic benefit in the treatment of mild to moderate depression. As always, make sure you learn more about a drug before you take it by asking your doctor if these herbal remedies would be right for you.
Disclaimer: Steroid use is illegal in a vast number of countries around the world. This is not without reason. Steroids should only be used when prescribed by your doctor and under close supervision. Steroid use is not to be taken lightly and we do not in any way endorse or approve of illegal drug use. The information is provided on the same basis as all the other information on this site, as informational/entertainment value.
