  • Do you lose nutrients when boiling veggies ?

Was wondering if you can over boil it and would it have no nutrients at all ? Cause I like to make my veggies soft so I boil it for a good period

I think this is true. Cooking vegetables depletes their nutritional value. How much I don't know.

You have to eat them raw right after they've been pulled from the ground to keep 100% of the nutrients. But steaming shouldn't deplete the nutrients by a lot I think? Maybe a 10% to 15% reduction? Just a guess!!!

yes most if not all vegies are better for you raw except carrots!! cooking carrots halfway (so they are still a little hard in the center) releases the beta carotine (sp?)

I hate eating it raw unless its a dip or something well 10 to 15% isnt that much of difference if it is .

Nutrients are lost through boiling, but if you steam them you won't lose as many...you lose 3 times as much by boiling compared to steaming.
