  • Diet Advice

Hey everyone, Im new to this site and the whole bodybuilding/weightlifting scene, and have a few questions about my diet.

Fist off, Im eating as much as I possibly can, trying to get in about 150 grams of natural protien a day and 3000-3500 calories, but this usually cant be done without high fat intakes as well.

Considering this and the fact that my weight routine is a little over an hour Mon-Wed-Fri, im afraid of my BF% rising more than I want it to.

Also, Im a freshman in highschool and soccer is coming up, so that will add some cardo to the equation as well...

So can you guys and gals think I will gain some unwanted chub around my midsection? Should I do 30 min. of running on my off day? Should I cut back my diet? <Im a little hesitant of this, because in one week I gained 5 pounds while losing size on my belly, and I think it was the diet that did it, along with weight training of course.

    Re: Diet Advice

Well, if you gained 5 pounds in one week, it's probably water. No one gains 5 pounds of muscle in one week. With that said, I need more info on what your goals are and what your stats are. For instance, if your goal is to bulk up and you weight 150 pounds at 5'10", then I'd say eat your butt off.

So, it's hard to steer you in a direction if I don't know where you want to go. Give me more info and I'll do my best to help.

Id like to gain 5lbs and loose around my belly, lol! If your into soccer, id implement some running for endurance, imo. Oh, and add some protein shakes into the mix.

Yeah, I know its mostly water, but some of that has got to be muscle right?

Anyway, my goal is to get absolutely huge, and right now im 5'8" and 142lbs. I dont have a particular weight target in mind, I'm just keeping track of my stats, and the bigger I get the better.

Ok, absolutely huge and soccer do not mix well bro! And, the training from one will significantly hinder the other. They are total opposites. It would be like training for the 100 meter dash and the 1600 meter at the same time. You basically end up not doing very good at either.

For soccer you need to be light, quick and have powerful legs. With wanting to be huge you will end up putting muscle on that could eventually slow you down. I don't know, you might be like me. When I walked into 9th grade I was 5'10" and 140 and I could run the 40 in like 5.5. Well, by my senior year, I was stil 5'10", but I was about 190 and my 40 time dropped to 4.6. So, it's possbile to get bigger and faster, but most people get slower as they get faster. So, you have to decide, what's more important, soccer or mass? Then you have to train for it.

I tend to agree with 007, your gonna burn up alot of cals if you into alot of soccer. Maybe better to think on the lines of lm and don't worry so much about getting "huge". I always like the lm medium weight over very large and higher bf. It is not hard though at your height of 5'8" to at least get to the 200lbs range. Iam only 5'7" and 195lb, but it is alittle hard to say at that weight. I usually fluctuate between 190-195. It is more of the quality of muscle now that iam looking for and definition.

Thanks, I know Soccer is very aerobic, and Im looking more for anarobic gains, but I'm basically doing soccer to be with friends, hang out, all that.

I dont plan on trying to be the fastest, quickest, or the most nimble. But I do want to be the one with the biggest muscles. I know that a lot of that is genetics, but I will continue to lift my weights, and Ill keep eating all that I can see.
