  • Lookin For That Edge.....

    HELLO ALL,

I'M NEW IN HERE AND I HAVE SOME ?'S.

I AM 35 YRS OLD, 6'-1" 240lb AND A FATHER OF 6, AND HAVE BEEN LIFTING FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS OFF AND ON. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO GAIN EZ, BUT ITS HARD TO LOSE THE LBS FROM GETTING MARRIED AND HAVING KIDZ....she gets pregnant and i gain all the wait......ANYWAY.....I HAVE BEEN BACK AT THE GYM SOLID FOR ALMOST 6 MONTHS DOING CARDIO AS WELL, AND I STILL SEEM TO BE THE SAME. I WOULD LOVE TO GET BACK TO THE SHAPE I WAS IN COLLEGE. SAME WIEGHT BUT SOLID! TODAY I HAVE A BEER GUT AND ITS GETTIN A LIL OUT OF HAND. MY DIET CONSIST OF CHICKEN AND FISH, AND A LIL BIT OF RED MEAT NOW AND THEN. I'M NOT ON ANY TYPE OF LOW CAL OR CARB DIET. BEING A FAMILY MAN, ITS KIND OF HARD NOT TO EAT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES.

I'VE BEEN CHECKING THIS BOARD OUT FOR A WHILE AND THOUGHT MAYBE ITS TIME TO START ON SOME TYPE OF PROGRAM.
I THOUGHT OF GETTING SOME LIPO-6 (from power nutrition) OR HIGHER POWER EPHEDRA (from bodybuiling.com) AND TAKE IT 2 WEEKS ON AND 2 WEEKS OFF. HOPING THAT WILL GET ME DOWN TO 200 AND THEN I CAN START BUIDING FROM THERE.

DOES ANYONE THINK IM GOING AT THIS THE WRONG WAY OR IS THERE ANOTHER WAY.

    STONER.....

If you aren't seeing any fat loss now than I think looking at your diet is the first step. Supps will just help you lose a little more once the diet is dialed in.

A normal day starts off like this......

6:30am breakfest bar or shake, 16oz coffee

9:00am 6oz chicken breast, 1 cup of rice, 20oz water

12:00 6oz chicken breast, 1 cup of rice, 20oz water
        protien bar

        3:00pm protien bar

6:30pm what ever the ol' lady fixes for dinner......

I know its not much info for dinner, but it can range from chicken to roast, tocos to turkeyburgers. It all depends on what the family eats.
Now should I not eat what the family does for dinner or shoud I do something else. I would hate for my wife to cook a nice meal and not be able to eat anything. But...I also want to lose the wieght.

I wieghed myself today, I'm at 243 and my body fat I quess is about 25-28%. I am VERY active with my kids coaching baseball and football. So I'm not just sitting around the house playing Playstation or watching TV.

        Any help would be great........

bro as we age it gets harder and harder to loose that gut and love handle fat. it sucks. yor diet is minimalist at best now. i would ditch the rice and go with a low gi source of carbs white rice spikes your glucose levels then lets them crash. also protein bars are conveinient but arent always the best choice when you can have real food. when i am dieting i take a can of solid white albacore put it in a tupperware bowl with a little low fat miricle whip and tabasco. almost no carbs and real high in quality protein. i only take in carbs at breakfast post workout and dinner. dinner is always low gi carbs. and i keep intake of carbs low only cheating once a week. also take a flax oil sup.

if you find a miricle fat burner holla at me. good luck

Try Cardio in the morning before you eat or drink anything...excluding water or coffee......no cream, no sugar!

As you eat during the day your body builds up a ready to use supply of glucose stores used for energy. From reading a book, to running a marathon your body does not want to burn fat(PERIOD) and will burn it's glucose stores before it starts hacking away at it's precious fat storage. This usually takes 18-20 min for most people. However when you sleep, your brain which has a strict diet of glucose makes sure your sucked dry when you wake up. So as soon as you start pumpin on the stair stepper, running, jogging, even rollin over and puttin' it to the wife demands on the spot energy stores, and if there isn't any glucose to burn, your body will use fat. Now, after a 40 min cardio session, you were burning fat 100% of the time, rather than 50%.........

THIS DOES NOT PERTAIN TO RESISTANCE TRAINING!!!!!!!!!
Try not eating or drinking anything other than water for 45 min after, because during this time your body is cookin fat. If you do, it's sorta like pissin on the fire if your trying to stay warm.
            THIS
            Later bro,

lol....No disrespect was meant by Calipso, Stoner. Hes the Caps Lock police. . Anyway, Id follow Jipped on this one. He gave some great info on low and high gi carbs. Rice is way to rich in carbs. Cut out as much of the easy stuff like bars and meal replacements as possible and stick to whole foods. That recipe is good (Tuna, MW, tobasco) and very low in carbs. Might wanna get your hands on some ECA's before its too late.

not to sound stupid.....but what is ECA's?.....ALSO, do you think its best to try some Ephedra? I just got 4 bottles of High Power Ephedra from BodyBuilding.com. or should I have gotten the Lipo-6. I cut out the second chicken breast and will replace it with a can of tuna. Thanks for the feedback fellas (sorry for the caps) I would love to keep the wieght but just turn some of the fat into muscle. I do my cardio first thing at the gym at 5am, then around 7 or 8pm I hit the wieghts, plus it helps me sleep. I know its hard to lose the LB's but I'm still looking for some extra help.

                thanks again

ECA=Ephedrine, Caffeine, Aspirin. It's the standard components of an ephedra based fat burner. The aspirin, however is not necessary. Yohimbine is a better component to stack with the E & C.

If it's your first time using ephedra or ephedrine start with a low dose. I would start with
8-15mg twice a day stacked with
                  175-200mg caffeine twice a day

Eventually work your way up to 25mg E, 200mg C 3 times a day. keep your water intake high. Shoot for no less than a gallon a day.
