i been doing alittle resarch on keto from what i get it is just a diet staying away from the wrong carbs and eating mainly for protien sounds to me like the atkins diet i really didnt understand allthe ins and outs to it could someone help me w/this prob

yeah your body starts using ketones as energy, which (scientifically) has a protein sparing effect.
Your eating 0 carbs, so its not really like the atkins.
your fat intake is going to be higher, and your protein intake moderate.
if you have too much protein you will get kicked out of ketosis.
If you have more than let's say 20 carbs you will get kicked out of ketosis.
what ketosis is, is basically your body is so used to using fat as energy, after you have depleted all your glycogen, it forces the body to use fat as energy.
this diet is effective if your severly over weight, I always use this diet to start off my dieting phase's, then work my way into a low carb diet (i get sort of a rebound effect from it where i actually put on muscle when i start consuming carbs again).
I wouldnt suggest this diet for contest prep or anything like that, a low carb diet would be best for those purposes.gixxer600@hushamil.com
