  • Atkins help!

Hey guys, what do you all think about tha Atkins diet? My wife is wanting to do it to. Do you think it is a safe and heathy diet for women? Is it a hard diet to stay on? Any help would be great.
    Thanks...

i did it and lost a bunch of weight. its not something that i would do for an extended period of time. it is a tool to get the fat off quickly. if you do it dont cheat! good luck.

I agree, its good for a quick weight drop, but its pretty difficult to maintain. and its no substitute to a healthy diet and exercise. has she considered LIPO ?? kidding

          workinhard,

There's nothing wrong with Atkins, I've used it many times.

First two weeks, like anything, tough to get the habits down, you'll feel well, just different, and most of weight loss will be water weight.

Best thing is always is to run a caloric deficit of 500 calories below BMR.

You would not believe how much people are really eating above BMR.

For average female in 20's BMR is 2,000-2,500 calories.

Best thing is to get a calorie counter list and log meals for a week, you'd be amazed at the calories people consume, even when they think they are eating well.
