  • Why not an insulin response first thing in the morning

After a workout it is important to take in dextrose and cause an insulin response to begin recovery as soon as possible. What about after a long 8 hour sleep when your body is craving nutritients first thing in the morning. If you eat some whole food then it will take an hour or so to get into our system. Why not take a similar post workout shake first thing in the morning to get our body out of a catabolic state and into an anabolic one?

yes do it, insulin users follow this creed, am then post workout. the same thing applies only your not burning muscle glucose by sleeping like you would be by training so no need to super carb it.

I have the concern that messing with insulin levels too much by slamming your system with excess glucose every day could leed to diabetes later in life, especially if you have a family history of it. Does anyone feel the same way. In the morning, you breakfast should have enough sugars to spike your insulin naturally and get your metabolism going.

          Dinatos8282,
I kinda think your concern is uncalled for. The average person probably eats several high GI meals every day, consisting of loads of carbs. The 1 to 2 high GI meals a day shouldn't create a significant risk for type 2 diabetes, even for those with a predisposition for it.

IMHO, the morning insulin spike should be done with as few carbs as possible if one believes in this philosophy.
