  • Got Fruit???

I'm munchin on some fresh strawberry's this mornin, oh yum

I'm keepin to mornings or latest afternoon. For dieting I was wondering the effects of such fruits as strawberry's, blueberry's, other ones. I assume they convert to sugar. Just wondering, even though they are natural sugars

From what i've learned, sugar is sugar and the body converts it the same way......

      sugar

fructose is the sugar in fruit... because it's a simple sugar (as opposed to starch, more complex carbs found in oatmeal, yams, etc) it is already broken down to its simplest form, thus, taken up into the bloodstream faster. this spikes insulin levels which is a fat storing hormone. some fruits have a lower glycemic as compared to others (i.e., apple vs. bananas) and timing really is the issue if you're going to have fruit in your diet. i would exclude it all together if you're cutting or prepping for a show. a good rule of thumb is high glycemic post workout and low glycemic pre. my personal opinion is a bit in the morning is no big deal since you have the whole day ahead of you for energy burning. you can do a search under glycemic index and probably find out what it is for strawberries and blueberries....
