pretty much the same. the sweet potato is starcher and yam I guess is sweeter(yams are hard to get in the small town I live in here in north dakota) but they are both great low glycemic(sp) index

i eat both all the time...they are not the same...they are very different in taste and color

are they nutritionally equal though? Yams are so sweet i figured they must not be as good for you...but what the hell do i know...lol
