  • DGC by Ast - What d you guys think? YellowJacket ?

Its not all that pricey - DPS has 1000g (21 servings) for like $10.

It seems it could be nice to throw in to pre and post workout shakes but I dont know if its really that superior.

What do you guys think? How effective is it (if at all).

Im not sure what the difference between this and some good ol' dextrose would be, but my instincts, and knowing AST's poor product quality, tell me nothing.

An insulin spike is not something you want pre workout. I would opt for complex carbs pre workout..... if anything, use it for post workout, although Im not sure it can stack up to a dextrose/malto. combination. But you're right, its fairly inexpensive.

Hmm I wasnt aware AST had a bad rep.

I really like their VP2. And the Nytro-Pro40 MRP's arent bad either. A bit on the expensive side though.....

I dont think the DGC is worth it. Like you said, you dont really want an insulin spike preworkout and your standard dextrose/malto. for post seems good.

Feel "gimmicky" although AST usually seems to stay away from those type of products. They had a big article debunking liquid creatine serum on their site before.

Well let me re-phrase my statement- not all their products are bad. Their proteins are actually good, as well as their meal replacements. Their pro-hormones they pimp so much are horrible. Theres a lengthy thread at bb.com on why AST is considered very scandalous, and for the simple reason they market (and basically stretch the truth) their pro hormones as 'the best out there' makes me not want to buy anything from them.........

Here's is what I have been using, this is a formula developed my Zeppelin, and I think its pretty fail proof...

0.8-1.0 g/kg of a 50/50 blend of dextrose and maltodextrin
0.4-0.6 g/kg of hydrolyzed whey protein or a blend of this and a whey isolate (a minimum of 50% hydrolyzed whey)
        3-5 grams of BCAA
        3-5 grams of glutamine
        3-5 grams of creatine monohydrate.
Make sure its in water and you'll notice its a lot of liquid. I dont use the glutamine because its worthless, but the rest I use. Because its a lot of liquid, drink 1/2 of it pre workout and 1/2 of it post workout. It says to drink the 1st 1/2 15 minutes before you workout, but if you're like me, I cant really stomach anything that close to pre workout, so Ill substitute the dextrose for some oatmeal and drink that. Taste is good, cost is moderate and Ive grown like a weed with it.

If you cant afford the formula on a regular basis, throw 1 scoop of vanilla whey powder in a 10 or 12oz glass of orange juice and 1/2 scoop of dextrose and drink that. Its very anti-catabolic and before anyone rags on fructose, remember that the dextrose will speed up the digestion of the fructose and vitamin C has been proven time and time again to be anti-catabolic. I like this pre workout and then my regular 2 scoops of whey in 15oz water with a 50/50 mix of malto and dextrose post workout.
