They were Parisian (French). Each summer, her parents would leave us the house just outside Paris. We'd stay there for a while then travel to the West Coast of France to spend time with her parents at their vacation home.

Sadly, my paternal grandfather was from Quebec and spoke French, but after moving to Mass, did not bother teaching my dad the language.

My maternal grandmothers mother was Acadian French (Louisian/cajun) but the language was never past on either.

I really hate that it wasn't passed on. I would have cherished it.
