  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Weight Lifting

    Hi All,
I've been lifting pretty heavy for a long time now and am developing a wicked case of carpal tunnel syndrome. I have to sleep with a night brace or my hand will go numb and it goes numb during the day too. Have any of you dealt with this? I'm afraid I may need surgery to release the carpal tunnel. Could you share your experiences if you've had this and how you eventually remedied it?

Currently, I stretch my forearms and wrist, wear the splint, and put ice one it. All of these help a little.....

Before surgery, look in to finding a practitioner of ART aka Active Release Techniques. Go to their website activerelease.com and find a provider in your area...Their success rate at fixing carpal tunnel syndrome is high. If you do, find someone who has been doing the technique for a while. Good luck.
