welp, i've had this elbow prob for about 2yrs now....it's gotten worse as time has gone by. used to be i just couldnt do skull crushers, but as time went by it gotten to the point where it hurt to do any pushing movements. i havnt done any pushing movments in 4 weeks...i've been doing fly's (an ass load of them) to keep the blood pumping into the pec area, but i havnt done any real weight. even single arm pushdowns with 20lbs kill me!!!
today i'm going to the doctor and findout wtf's been the problem!!! (no...it has nothing to do with obama care kicking in today!! lol). hopefully i can get on the way to getting this fixed...

Its either bursitis or tendinotis or a bone spur probably. But you cant be doing anymore skull crushers and have to do more machines now for triceps and actualy watch what you do that involves your elbow. Remember at our age we cant lift ike we used to when we were younger and have to do change stuff around

Yes there is stuff out there. Celebrex you can get a shot of cortizone in there or get a shot of some type on anti Inflammatory in there. And ice ice ice will help this like you wouldnt believe. Did they take X-rays dave because if there just saying thats your pain without any films there crazy. And a mri also can help.Your saying your in great pain and yes burcitis can be painful but if films werent taken then there can be something else. And if you have been doing skull crushers then a spur can be there. But dave a shot of cortizone frequently in there every 4 months can help.

                  Re: to the doctor

yea..he took xrays...he perscride some "corizone pack" for 6 days, then a heavy anti-inflamatory for 24 days...then he wants to see my again. i wanted the cortizone shot, but he wanted to try to go this route first...he feels masking it with anti pain aid will only add to the problem when i get older...he's looking down the road....i'm all about the now!!!

i aint done skull crushers in 2yrs bro!!! it just has gotten worse and worse. i havnt worked out in 4 weeks now, so it really dont hurt now, but we'll see once i get back going

                    Re: to the doctor

theres a dozen or more different treatment options. Some good, some not so good..I know a Dr. in oklahoma that does this stuff called prolotherapy, theres m a s sage therapy, a.r.t., cortisone shots, PRP(platelet rich plasma) etc. weigh out the side effects and the risk:benefit ratio...theres an article in this weeks sports illustrated about PRP. They are doing PRP at steadman -hawkins , which is the famous clinic in Vail. Theres a lot of athletes going the PRP route. They take out your blood and then do something to it and then re-inject it into your injury. Not sure how much it costs or if insurance would cover it. Theres a ton of info on PRP online if you google it.

There are also some topical products that can help with pain. If you can find "BIOFREEZE", it works pretty good. You may have bursitis, but it could be from an underlying problem. Docs just like to treat the symptoms, and forget finding the cause, this really urks me!

Biofreeze is super popular. People swear by it. Other topical things that people can try:Ibunex, which is topical ibuprofen and Traumeel, which is some german homeopathic cream that they sell in health food stores
