Pull-ups are one of the best exercises for developing a strong, shapely back. They're also one of the most difficult exercises to be found. If you've been discouraged by your past attempts, take heart. There are ways to build your skill gradually. And the potential results are well worth the effort.
(1) DO ASSISTED PULL-UPS ON A MACHINE. Most gyms, like Denman Fitness, now have machines that enable you to lift only a percentage of your weight. If you are unsure of how to use this machine, just ask one of our staff.
(2) USE A SPOTTER. As you are pulling yourself up, have a spotter support you by holding your ankles.
(3) STICK WITH IT. Many people give up after one or two frustrating attempts. But experts say that if you continue trying, you'll improve very rapidly.
