I personally, if Im going to cut, I expect to lose a bit of strength and muscle. U just have to get your mind around it and do it.
As for cutting out the fats, or not...it all depends on what kind of diet you are going to choose. Personally, I think of it as cals in Vs cals out, so I cut from my most calorie dense foods first (fats) then carbs, and never protein.
