Does anyone have any experience with either of the above. I know that from what I have read that ******** has had much more clinical studies done with it, but some are saying that avodart has more promise. LMK who has used either of them, and how it worked.

I've used both, and both are/were effective. I used proscar (finasteride) at 1.25mg/d for a few years. It did pretty much halt any further loss in it's tracks. I finally decided to stop using it due to sides: drastically diminished sex drive and a constant mental fog it seemed to put me in (this wasn't my imagination either).

I only used topicals for several months following and definitely lost ground. Panic set in and I went straight to Dutas (generic dutasteride). It too has pretty much halted any further loss. I've been using it only 3x per week so basically every other day in an effort to avoid/limit any sides. I've still experienced a lowered sex drive (although not as bad as when I was on fin) and another odd side that I've experienced is the appearance of dark circles under my eyes (LoL I have to use that L'Oreal Men's Expert Anti-Dark circle cream **** every day or they re-appear).

Taking dutasteride 2x per week is as effective as taking finasteride every day (atleast on paper). It's more potent than finasteride as it blocks both enzymes which convert test to DHT, but common logic would be to try finasteride first since it does have the studies backing it and it is approved by the FDA for treating MPB.

Excellent response bro. Just what I was looking for. What about any experience with Nizoral shampoo??

Niz 2% is great for keeping the scalp clean...just a little better than a dandruff shampoo like head n shoulders really.

My doctor refused to prescribe advodart recently. I slipped and didnt say it was for prostate concerns, lame. Ive used advodart in the past and never really noticed too much difference than ******** (used for 4 months). So whatever is easier to get ahold of...you should be fine

I used ******** several years ago from a doc's script and I didn't think it was really working until someone I hadn't seen a few months said something. One of the first things she said was 'are you putting anything in your hair?' and I told her and she said she could tell as soon as she seen me that my hair was thicker. However, I don't think it did much for what had receited though. It seemed like it just made what I had left thicker and it filled in some of the thin areas. Then, the cost went up and I just quit. I've been shaving my head for like 5 years now so I could care less. Even if they came out with a 100% proven method that worked on everyone, I probably wouldn't even bother. I'm used to shaving my head. I don't have to buy shampoo, conditioner, hair gel or any of that other crap that goes with it.
I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.

you foreign bastard, way to hijack the thread :p

I know you do not have mpb in your family. First, stop freaking out and stressing. Second, stop looking for a quick fix. You may have to write off those heavy androgens like tren in the future..and obviously most orals. Youre gettin old

Minoxidil probably wont be the answer for you. GH wont straighten out your hormones either...which you know is the issue. Keep taking your biotin/niacin or whatever and use a dandruff shampoo. You know your genetics will keep your hair where it should, just be patient and relax

Just lookin out for ya buddy

I use Nizoral about 3x per week. I think it's a good add on to use in conjunction with fin/dut and minoxidil, but as a stand alone product I doubt it's all that effective

Fin/Dut, minoxidil, and nizoral shampoo is a great hair loss stack, so to speak.

A topical anti-androgen such as spiro is another useful product to add. Copper peptide formulas such as Tricomin, Revitalize, or Folligen can be useful if you have scalp inflammation, itching problems...
