      Exercise Stress Test

A stress test, sometimes called a treadmill test or exercise test, helps physicians find out how well the heart handles work. As the body works harder during the test, it requires more oxygen and the heart has to pump more blood. The test can show if there’s a lack of blood supply through the arteries that go to the heart. It also helps doctors know the kind and level of exercise appropriate for a patient.

      A person taking the test

is hooked up to equipment to monitor the heart.

walks slowly in place on a treadmill, on which the speed is increased for a faster pace and which is tilted to produce the effect of going up a small hill.

may be asked to breathe into a tube for a couple of minutes.

can stop the test at any time if necessary.

afterwards will sit or lie down to have the heart and blood pressure checked.

Heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, electrocardiogram (E.C.G. or E.K.G.), and how tired one feels are monitored during the test.

There’s very little risk in taking the test — no more than if a person walks fast or jogs up a big hill. Medical professionals should be present in case something unusual happens during the test.

Amonth ago I was running on the track and the last minute I pushed myself hard.

Later that evening I felt bad. Not sore but achey everywhere and I came down with a fever and felt achey for four days.
Two days ago I was on my stair master and the last minute I pushed myself again hard.
The next day I felt the same aches in my muscles and joints, like the flu.
I took advil all day and the next morning and it left.
I don't know about these things but can toxins be released into your body from working out like that?
Seems weird but this is the second time this has happened. If anyone knows that would be great.
My husband said one time he worked out too hard and that night he had the chills and felt aches. I can only come up with that it is toxins. Let me know!

Can toxins be released into your body from working out too hard? Two separate times I was working out and the last minute I pushed myself hard and both times I felt fluish and achey. Can't be a coincidence because the first time was a month ago and then again the other day and both times I pushed myself hard on the last minute. the next day I wasn't sore but my joints and muscles ached. I worked on my stair master one time and the other I went to the trac but my whole body was achey and a lymph node in my arm pit popped out and it was sore as well. My husband was working out a few years ago and he had the same thing happen. He worked out hard and then that night he had chills and aches. Toxins is the only thing I can think of. What do you guys think, or what do you know?
