Tweeteven though i know exactly the point they are trying to make here i will say this: has anyone ever noticed that the people that critique form look like they either have never been in the gym in their lives or they are so skinny that they look like a chicken wing? i will use a few examples of pros that get hammered all the time. branch warren, jason huh and even phil heath. at least two are top tier body builders that get eat up on how they train, yet they built unreal physiques. huh is a monster of a dude and never does any full range work at all. all techniques have their proper places and just because a text book or some trainer says something doesnt make it gospel.

TweetI believe there is a full range of motion and also an effective range of motion. Someone who competes in benching obviously will be required to use a full range of motion. However if we are just talking muscle activation for hypertrophy then you can look at the effective range of motion, which refers to the range where the elbows just drop beyond the plane of the body and just shy of lockout.
TweetI do half reps but a little different. Every time I start going heavy on the bench my shoulder gets hurts and the tendon in my left elbow pops out of it slot. I use lower weight and high reps moving it slow and work the bottom half chest to 5 inches from lock-out. I work the bottom half on curls to stretch my biceps. Use the bottom half of the hack squat. I believe in working toward my weakness and I couldn't give 2 shits if anyone thinks I am strong or not.

1 having 3 fused disks in my neck c4 c5 c 5 c 6 c 7 t1 and in my back T11-12 3 shoulder surgeries and 2 crushed hands bad work accident.I use the sling shot every other bench day. my body will not let me touch the bar to my chest with heavy weight due to the extreme pain I'm in and I do it anyway heres just a little example with 315 40 times.Now this is going up to 455 first and coming down to 315.Now I can go lower but I like to go fast. So say what anyone will or wants to careless.Im 270+ and Im happy

I see these funny little dudes at my gym , wearing weight belts, gloves, straps, all that shit , and they half rep especially on bench press.
This one dude , looks like the leader of the dick squad , racks up the plates and the. Takes about 10 min to start his desend .
Anyway this dick cheese, gets about 10" from his chest goes back up with a spot and then gets up with a stupid smirk like he did something , PLEASE !!! And they always look the same !!

TweetIll put the video back.I have injuries I like to do speed pressing,Im growing Im almost 50 so Ill take it.but when I do my max 480 with the sling shot on I do go slowly down to as close as I can get to my chest then up. No speed there

Tweetfuzo, you are doing more of what i would call constant tension work. not so much a partial rep. a partial rep would be where you bring the bar down an inch or 2 and then have it pulled up off of you. it is also a much different situation when you are working around an injury or limitation.
