BJ Penn vs. Jon Fitch II Set For UFC 132

TweetThe Prodigy is set to return to Las Vegas for the first time since UFC 94 in January of 2009.

After a long absence from the UFC’s hometown, BJ “The Prodigy” Penn will return to Las Vegas to face his UFC 127 counterpart Jon Fitch in a rematch which will likely determine the welterweight number 1 contender.

Their first meeting ended with a controversial draw in Sydney Australia that saw Penn get the better of Fitch in the opening two frames. Much to the displeasure of many onlookers Fitch was able to secure a 10-8 score on two judges’ cards to take the third round and ultimately cause a majority draw.

UFC president Dana White went on record following the bout and declared that BJ won the fight and the third round, although dominated by Fitch was scored in error and should have been a 10-9.

Prior to the draw Penn made his welterweight return with a first round knockout over Matt Hughes and Fitch had secured 5 straight victories.

While UFC 132 is yet to be officially announced it is expected to take place on July 2 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. No word on the bouts placement or who will headline the event.

TweetWell I hope BJ is up for this fight meaning that he isnt bored because its a 2nd fight like he did with Edgar. If Bj is really ready he will have to work on his take down defense more then ever in his career and his BJJ . Because if he is taken down he needs to escape out of fitchs control.

TweetHere's the thing. Fitch is about at his peak, IMO. BJ on the other hand has a lot of room to improve on his wrestling. Between the two, I think BJ has more room to improve than Fitch by the 2nd fight and we saw what happened the first time.

The question is, will BJ do what has to be done to improve?

Tweetprob with fitch is he will have a masterful gameplan by greg jackson. not they know BJ and will be able to exploit his weaknesses against fitch better this time.
