that is the weight he starts at before cutting. mid 160s. he just did not go through the cut and weighed in at 168 i think. her was supposed to fight at 155 but when that fell through with RDA and he found out he was fighting Nate who is a 155'r he could just fight at 170 and not have to cut the day before.

he just panicked. he competed 2 weight classes above his own. nate has been at 170 before. did not do well but he knew what to expect. connor did not

The reason guys cut weight is to be strong and fast as hell at a lower weight class. Connor was slow, out shape and gassed. I bet he panicked because he realized he made a huge mistake. Just because you walk around at 168 does not mean you should fight at 170. Guys at 170 walk around at 190+. Connor made a very poor decision and it cost him big time.

but what i am saying is he was the same weight he would fight at 155 either way he would have walked into the cage at 165ish when he fought at 155. one of the reasons he is so good at 145 is he can cut a ton of weight and is bigger than his opponents. this fight he just did not go through the cut which is grueling and saps energy. one is way better off not cutting. he looked on point in the first. busted the hell out of nate. then panicked and gassed trying to KO him.

personally i think he underestimated nate and thought he would walk through him, get a highlight KO and move on. he fired power shots with everything and he gassed trying he even mentioned all those wheel kicks were one reason he gassed. his hands could not stop nate so he tried kicks. then had nothing left.

Not trying to pick a fight but what you just said is that the reason he is so good because he cuts weight and is tough. Then you say its better not to cut. He is too weak at 165 to fight at 170. He does not have the power to drop a good 170 pound fighter. He was foolish to think he was. Now, if he put on some mass and weighed 185-190 and dropped down to 170 (which most guys do, he would have a shot.) He gassed because he was out of fighting shape at 165 and did not have the power to knock a bigger guy out. ONE IS WAY BETTER OFF CUTTING. thats why everyone does it......

I personally don't see this as conor moving up 2 weight classes. Diaz is a 155er. They just didn't dehydrate to 155. If it was a 155 title fight they would have walked into the ring at a fairly similar weight as they did the other night.
Like stated above Conor just doesn't have the power to drop a 170lber and I'm sure some of the 155ers (like nate!)
When conor fights condit, lawler, mcdonald, Maia, hendricks, or Woodley I'll listen to that talk.
He'd be lucky to go 1 for 5 in the welterweight division.
He's very talented, and championship material in the featherweight division. Lightweight div, maybe but I'll have to see it to believe it.

Connor doesn't have a chance with any of those fighters sorry, that is just my opinion...Connor like you all have said just stay in your weight class and worry about Frankie Edgar making a statement of him in the next fight.

That's what I'm saying, he isn't beating any of those guys, not having it with the 170 talk. Those guys are 170lbers, not Diaz!

brother, not trying to fight either. i am just saying he is the same weight whether he cuts or not. if he cuts for 145 he will be 160on fight night.

not cutting is way better, one does not have to dehydrate 15# and forgo eating. that is why the weigh ins are the day before so the fighter can put back on the weight. it is a grueling hard thing that hurts cardio. people fighters do it to be bigger than their opponent.he carried about 5-6# more muscle into this fight than he would have at 145. that is the difference and 5# will not make that big a difference. cutting is horrible. one IS better off not doing it in a case like this where nate did not cut either.
