Perhaps my favorite combat sports related documentary series here. It's called Phuket Dreaming and currently sits at 4 episodes. Even if you're not a fan of muay Thai or mma they provide a pretty cool look at Thailand. I consider them to be pretty well made from a video-graphical perspective, nicely shot, nicely edited, w/ good song/music selection. They motivate the hell out of me and hopefully they do the same for someone else! Check them out when/if you have time and let me know what you think!

Eventually, if there isn't deep integrity and fundamental character strength, the challenges of life will cause true motives to surface and human relationship failure will replace short-term success.

There is an idea of who I am: some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me; only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel my flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

Episode 5 coming soon friends! I'm curious to know what everyone thinks of this dude Rob Lisita. I didn't find out until after watching these vids that he has a ton of haters. Personally I love the guy's attitude, you've gotta think you're an indestructible bad ass in the fight game. I don't fault him at all, and dude cusses about every other word like I do around my buddies which for some reason i think is great.

I've heard great things about the chromecast, if i end up with one i'm doing that too. the tv screen has got to be so much better than a computer monitor. and yeah man, there's no substitute for size and brute strength lol.

thanks for the shares. we watch them over and over. my kid wants to be a pro fighter. in real life that will not happen. he may be a good ammy but right now he is a big fish in a little pond. our camp and the other local camps have smokers and he has not ran into another kid who can match his length. he is 5'10" and 115# his arms are as long as most kids his weights legs.

      Phuket Dream
Rob's got a fight lined up! Can't wait to see him back in action, in honor of the upcoming fight here's a Phuket Dreaming short on him - mainly footage we've seen at this point but still cool

Rob Lisita had a ONE FC title shot within his grasp, as he appeared to be getting the better of Eric Kelly in their featherweight eliminator last July until the Filipino pulled a rear-naked choke out of nowhere to win by second round submission and leapfrog Lisita in the queue of 145-pound contenders.

It was a devastating setback for the Australian, but he has a chance to redeem himself next month when he faces undefeated M-1 featherweight champion Marat Gafurov in the main event of ONE FC: "Roar of Tigers" and Lisita sees this as the perfect opportunity to get right back in the title picture.

"I'm gonna be better than Gafurov in every aspect, he will lose and I will win and it's going to get me back in the title picture. I'm already at the top of the division and I don't see my last opponent fighting for a while so I will be next."

Kelly suffered a fractured nose during his win over Lisita which ruled the Filipino out of an immediate title shot, with the fight instead going to Jadamba Naranungulag, who scored a unanimous decision win over former champion Koji Oishi at ONE FC: "Reign of Champions" in Dubai.

Lisita was watching that five-round fight and says he feels that neither the former champion nor the new one has what it takes to remain at the top of the division for too much longer.

"It was a great fight between two good athletes, but they're old, it's time they step aside for the next generation."

Lisita might not have won the fight with Kelly but it helped cement his status as a ONE FC headliner and his featherweight bout with Gafurov will be the main event of the promotion's Oct. 17 card which is set for Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur.

His name is exactly where he wants it to be, at the top of the card and Lisita says he has every intention of staying there for future fights.

"I'm happy and I believe all my fights will be main event as they should be. There's no fighter in Asia that brings out more emotion in people when they fight than me."

Lisita's two ONE FC bouts to date have both been memorable as he knocked out former Legend FC champion Yusuke Kawanago in under 30 seconds in his promotional debut and then played a part in the "Fight of the Year" candidate against former URCC champion Kelly.

Next up for the Australian is the opportunity to challenge the incumbent M-1 145-pound titleholder and Lisita is relishing the opportunities which have arrived since he signed with Asia's biggest MMA promotion.

"I love fighting for ONE FC. They are a part of my family now and together we are gonna make the whole world excited to see every ONE FC, especially the ones that I'm headlining!"

Fans in Asia can catch ONE FC: "Roar of Tigers" live on FOX Sports 3. Fans from around the world can witness the action online via live streaming at www.onefc.livesport.tv. The event will be available for purchase at just $9.99.

that dude is so hardcore. he lives, eats breaths fighting. i wish i was young enough to at least have some ammy fights. i train Muay Thai but only box in the ring. my body is too old and recovers too slow to take that abuse. my kid will train but never fight. he actually had surgery on his back yesterday. as good as he is it is not worth the risk

yeah man I love this guy's approach to the game, one of the few fighters out there to actually respond to me on twitter too which is kind of cool lol. I've been increasingly attracted to the idea of competing in jiu jitsu. I'd need to put in a year or so of work to build on what i know before I'd feel like my skill level was worth competing with but I think it'd be pretty cool.

that's crazy to hear about your kid man, i hope he's feeling alright today and recovers fully sooner rather than later. during my mma career, in which i only trained never competed, i lost both front teeth (wear a flipper now), got a nice little scar under my left eye from a knee, and have had surgery on my right wrist due to damage from punching a lot without good technique or hand wraps. i really feel like i could've avoided the wrist surgery if more gyms out there had their student's best interest in mind and actually knew what they were doing. learning how to wrap your hands should be striking 101 stuff. in any case, it's a rough sport and will take its toll no doubt.

i hate to have to report this, but Rob lost his fight. a minute into the first round, rnc. really sucks, i was hoping he'd come back and fuck shit up. this dude Gafurov that he fought is undefeated and consensus opinion is that he'll be the champ one day. no solace though, sucks for my boy rob.

in any case, it gives us a story to follow along w/ these vids. i'll keep the thread updated w/ what rob's got going on, as well as new vids of course.

read the book "a fighters heart" by sam sheridan. great book by a guy who has done all that. and he is not a super athlete or even a great fighter but a guy who loves it and wanted to learn at the highest levels and test himself. we have a smoker coming up at my Muay Thai camp.

coach does not have me an opponent as I am 45 and he does not want me taking on young guys anymore. an older guy is more conservative as we know we do not heal up like a young fellow. I love Muay Thai with all my heart. more than boxing and BJJ or wrestling. i think about combos and fighting more than sex

like you i wish i found it when i was young like my coach who did kung fu and karate and heard about this guy from Thailand who was having a seminar. He went and realized he wanted Muay Thai. he followed this Khru around the country training and eventually became the American LHW Muay Thai champ. was promoted to Khru while his coach became Ajarn and has taught ever since at 53 he can still whoop out best HW fighters
