Tweetwow...that does sound badass!!! i may try that
TweetOk, so last fall, early Sept. to be exact, myself,a guy i train, and one of the MMA fighters i train all decided to try an 8 minute squat routine.
I got the idea from a Hungarian wrestler who does it.
We have done this twice now,the first time with only 95 pounds and recently with 135 pounds on the bar. Now, i know some of you are already thinking this is just breathing squats, some sort of endurance gig, etc, etc.
we took 6 weeks,2 workouts a week, both timed and started at 2:30 and added time, usually around 20-30 seconds per workout. Why start at 2:30,i dunno, just felt like a good starting point.
So the big day finally arrives,we did both weights on a Sat morning and all three of us made it too the 8 minute mark. We did this routine for something different before heading into our winter bulkers.
Now the good and the bad if you ever decide to try this:
1.THE MIND IS TRULY STRONGER THAN THE BODY
I will probably never do this again due to the sheer agony it takes on your mind, you constantly want to rack the weights after about the 4 minute mark.
2.I PUT ALMOST AN INCH ON MY THIGHS DURING THIS
3. I ATE LIKE A GRIZZLY BEAR DUE TO THE RECOVERY,SO I HAD TO EAT CLEAN AND OFTEN.
4.MY CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM WAS DECIMATED BUT IT NOW SEEMS ABLE TO WITHSTAND MORE
5.LUNGS ON FIRE SUCKS
6.135 POUNDS FOR 8 MINUTES IS A LIFETIME
7.THE PUMP IS AWESOME
After you rack, you may get that short "lull" where nothing happens and then all of a sudden your thighs balloon like our inflation.
8.I FEEL LIKE I AM OFFICIALLY CRAZY
9.THE REST OF MY BODY SEEMED TO EXCELL FROM THIS ROUTINE.
Meaning, it all had that 'synergistic" effect or whatever they tell us in those fancy articles.I felt full and pumped more often and longer.I wonder if it was close to what runners get with "runner's high"
10.YOU'LL SWEAT LIKE A PROSTITUTE IN CHURCH
11.QUALITY STRETCHING IS PARAMOUNT AFTERWARDS
12.YOUR DAY PRETTY MUCH ENDS AFTER THE WORKOUT
13.WE TOOK NO LONGER THAN 5 SECOND BREAKS AT THE TOP
Whoever was using the stopwatch was responsible for making you take another rep at 5 second mark or you had to rack it and be done for the day.
That's about it i guess, like i said we wanted to do something different before heading back into our winter routines, and we wanted something difficult.I got all i could bargain for in this.Lemme know what you guys think.

TweetBro thats badass shit. Im a gojnna try that..135 for 8 minutes...OMG! sweeeet man..I gotta do something new to crank my metabolism thru the roogf
Tweetcan i start with a broom stick?..hehe..wonder what kinda tempo you go at...I would think you d have to take a few pauses at the top
TweetI'm tellin ya right now D,do it with 95 pounds the first time. My max squat was around 455 when i did it,and the 95 pounds was brutal believe it or not.
Speaking for myself,i think i would have stalled out if i started with 135.Just a thot.
TweetWOW...GUESS I SHOULD START WITH THE BAR!!!

Tweetwe allowed 5 second breaks at the top, trust me after about 5 min it all goes out the window, just go up and down and get your air.Don't use a belt either
TweetStart with 95,warm-up just a little, get your act wired and try it. start with 2:30 for the first run and go from there. takes a few weeks to get to where you can do the eight minutes....it took us 6 weeks each time with 95 and 135..................you have no idea how awesome and how punishing this can be.Be prepared for the workout of your life.
The cool thing is it's all you do for legs for a while.
