TweetJust by the way it impacted your bench, I'd say your not hurt - your injured.
Tomorrow morning will tell you a lot but it sounds like something you need to see a doc about.
good luck bro
TweetWell heres the deal, I go into the gym today fully pumped to do back and chest, but of course this happens.
I warm up with 45xalot, 135x10, 135x10, 185x4, 225x5 then i get started...
I was going for 245x5 as a sort of warmup as i can get that 10+ times (on a good day). On the first one i felt a feeling in my left pec near my armpit... like someone poked me really hard. Then, thinking it was nothing, did 2 more reps and stoped to due a bad feeling. I stretched for about 10mins and tried 135 and felt like i couldnt push with my left arm or it would hurt bad. Its bad, but not to bad, what do you think it is... a strain, pull, tear, etc?
Also, perfect timing... I was starting my training for a UCF bench comp, horra for **** like this!!! Also, what should i do to fix this... i was thinking strtching and ice every day.

Tweetdefinitely get it looked at. if it is a tear time is of the essence. the longer you wait the harder it will be to reattatch and not have any deformity.
TweetI agree. that's what insurance is for. sorry to hear about all of that. Best of luck to ya bro

That being said.......
Tweethmmm, I have popped a few fibers in my right pec but i was straining hard and i felt it let go. Like fibers of a cable popping. You should be able to see a difference in size/shape the next day and if you try to push with that side it will hurt. I had no bleeding or bruising under the skin like some do. I was taking nolvadex for a long run and it lowered my IGF levels,I feel this is why I had the injury. Let us know how it is the next day man.
TweetUntil you get it checked, throw some ice on there and toss back some ibuprofin. I had something similar not long ago and just took some time off, iced and some nsaids. It doesn't sound like a tear but you may wanna get it checked out anyway. Let us know.
Tweeti would think a tear would be excruciating pain, you wouldnt be on here typing, thats for sure. ice it up, go see a doc, get some rest.
TweetFor starters, I would ice it for sure and take some ibuprofin. Then, I would go get it checked out. If in fact you did tear it partially, then it will tear worse down the road. The tendons are like cables they are fibers that are twisted together. If some of the tear, the enitre tendon will be weaker as a result. I'm sure you remember my Achilles tear last year, well, it was my right Achilles that I completely ruptured. Now, jsut to let you know about how these things work, about 3 years prior to that tear I was playing flag football and strained my right Achilles really bad because I didn't warm up enough. Now, I stretched and iced like crazy and I would wrap my ankle to get some of the movement out of it to keep playing and I eventually got the pain to go away. It took a while. But, I never went to the doc. My surgeon told me that he thinks I caused some minor tears back then and as a result of not getting it fixed then, it was only a matter of time before the whole thing tore. If you have in fact partially tore your pec, go get it looked at because they will eaither put you in a sling for several weeks to allow the tendon to grow back or they may need to go int there a reattach it. You are better off getting it fixed and starting over than to miss several weeks letting it heal incorrectly only to find yourself down this road again later. Mine took 3 years to tear from when I initially injured it. I would have been much better of to just go to a doc and sit out the rest of flag football or wear a boot or whatever they would have had me do. I could have avoided the tear if I was smarter. Don't do what I did, get it looked at bro.
TweetNot really. When I tore my Achilles there wasn't really any pain at all, just numbness because the nerves were tore. But, one they re-attached it, then the pain was unbearable. I believe it was because the nerves were able to communicate again. Also, my supplement guy here in town tore his pec one day and stayed at work. I went in to buy some protein and he pulled up his sleeve and I could see the muscle all bunched up. He said it really didn't hurt. I thought he was crazy until I tore my Achilles. It's like the muscle just goes numb.
Tweetok, so I stand corrected. The most serious injury I've endured was a shoulder impingement and that sh*t hurt right away and for awile! cortizone to the rescue! lol
TweetSpeedy recovery brody! Definitely get it looked at. Hopefully it's not serious!
TweetWell woke up this morning and dont even notice it really, except for the fact that I keep thinking about it. Its weird, it hurt but now it doesnt nearly as much, Thinking it may just be a strain. Ill ice it and stretch, thanks for the wishes.
TweetMan, that's a good sign. I would definately do stretches and ice then. If there is any pain during th stretch, DO NOT PUSH IT! Go almost to the pain but not quite. In time the point of pain will go away.
