TweetSOME PEOPLE DO AND SOME DONT! SOME PEOPLE THINK YOU CAN OVER TRAIN THEM JUST LIKE ANY OTHER MUSCLE. I JUST WORK THEM OUT AND THATS IT!
TweetQuestion: I read that it is good for the abs if we work them out until failure? But this is *only* for abs, right?

TweetYeah, well...... this topic is so conflicting as "cardio on an empty stomach" I guess. I keep reading the most different answers on it....Originally Posted by BIGMOFO
TweetYou don't have to work abs to faliure if you are doing proper amount of cardio to burn off the extra bf. They will show, it just takes time in dedicatation to dieting, cardio, and regularly working them out. As far as doing cardio on an empty stomach? It is a no, no. You body has low glyco levels in the am and if you don't eat anything before doing cardio, it for one is not good for your health and will start eating up your muscle, and you will be burning yourself out. I just read an article on this, saying how bad it is. If i can find i will post.
Also it depends on when you are doing your cardio, in am I would eat a good breakfast first then wait about an hr then hit it, or in the pm you can do after dinner and wait at least an hr, but if you cant wait before dinner, at least you would have eaten already breakfast and lunch, so you would not be putting too much stress on your body. I have seen women do this types of things like 2hrs cardio and no breakfast and in time they burn out and make no progress with weight training.
TweetThat makes a lot of sense. Thanks Mick!Originally Posted by mick-G
TweetNo prob. I just see so many ladies at the gym over doing it on cardio, like 2hrs and are thin as rails, with no muscle or definition. They are just burning themselves out and they think they look good when in fact they look all dragged out. If someone is pent on doing cardio first on an empty stomach, i would at least get a good energy drink that increases the carbs and gyclogen levels(dnepharma.com makes a good one Orange Blast or you can buy them at any vitamin store), that way you won't be breaking down good muscle tissue and the aminos that help build your body. Take care and luv your body, especially yourself, don't abuse....and ppl will notice the dif.
TweetI do heavy abs and to be honest they have never been stronger or felt as good.
TweetThey are just like any other muscle. You train them, then you rest them. I go as hard on abs as I do everything else and I only hit them once, maybe twice, a week. I do one set of each exercise, just like I do everything else. Right now I'm doing cardio after every workout so that the most important thing. Abs are worthless if they are covered in fat. Well, hypothetically speaking.
TweetThanks! Yes, I think I need to seriously organize my work outs, build a schedule, instead of going nuts wanting fast results.Originally Posted by T-Man007

Tweeti think each person just has to try dif things and then stick with what your body responds to. i only hit abs 2-3 times a week hard, i think o2 works them all the time and his look better than mine, so go fig!

Tweetimo weighed lef lifts, doing abs on the lat pd achine, putting db on ur chest and doing sit ups on an incline really helpd my abs get stronger.. stronger abs = stronger lifts = better results.. so thats just my o2... i do em twice a week, i think doing weightless sit ups of multple reps are USELESS... stronger the abs the better
TweetHere's my take on fitness goals: "There is no finish line"Originally Posted by bukie
That's it! Fitness is a journey, not a destination, so I look at it as part of my lifestyle. It's like brushing your teeth or taking a shower, you just do it. If you try to cram all these accomplishments into a small time frame you end up either letting yourself down or getting burned out. When trying to lose weight, I go with the 1 pound a week approach. It's simple and easy. If I want to lose 20 pounds I give myself 20 weeks to do it. That way, when I hit it early, I'm happy. But people who try to lose 20 pounds in a month or two just end up losing a lot of muscle and therefore don't look much better if they do hit the goal. Also, the discipline of only one pound a week is very easy. That's 500 cals a day, that's it. It's the best way to lose fat without losing mucsle and a lot of people will lose more than one pound per week. But, shoot for one and be happy when you lose one and a half or two pounds.
TweetI do crunches with those strap on weights on my arms. 2 pounds on each. I also do all sort of exercises for the lower abs and obliques.Originally Posted by Skarhead
