TweetI can't tell you how much mroe progress I make when keeping one over not keeping one. It's like night and day. I can't remember from one workout to the next every single weight and rep I did the time before. So I have to keep a journal. I've had time where I went in and felt like doing 250 on incline and realized I did 265 last time so I made my self get psycked up and put 270 on. My journal is one of my best mental motivations. Even if my body says 'no way' my mind will say 'BS, you do it before, you can do it again'. I think training without one is going to slow your progress big time.
